Upcomming: Public Hotspot

We are getting very excited about this one; as we are still putting things together, the details will unfortunately be limited.  We wanted to do a higher profile and more public project in an attempt to raise some awareness.  As such, we've brainstormed thought shower'd some ideas and have put together an interesting experiment.

The ultimate goal of this project is to demonstrate that open public networks carry a significant amount of danger when used and how trust can be conveyed through subtle social engineering techniques on a potentially malicious network.

We aim to show that when unknown / un-trusted networks are used, it is possible to steal personal information without alerting the potential victim.

As we are still confirming a number of details, including a few legal aspects, we don't want to give too much away.  That being said, we aim to produce our desired results by imitating an open network and performing capture analysis to retrieve user information.  We are doing this in a manner that could potentially render any SSL encryption used redundant.

We're very eager to complete this project and consider it one of our higher priorities so stay tuned for updates as the results come in.

About TSSec

We are Digger and Odskee, a small information security research team based in the UK.  We love breaking and fixing things and enjoy getting our hands dirty in the field of infoSec.

Odskee tends to focus on the theoretical, software based aspects while Digger finds himself at home with the raw electronics.  We both have a number of years of experience within a number of similar roles and think these work best as a team.
